site.btaCabinet Assigns Election-related Tasks to Ministers

The caretaker Government Friday adopted a decision assigning tasks to ministers regarding the upcoming October 27 snap parliamentary elections. Following are the ministers’ roles:

• Innovation and Growth Minister Rosen Karadimov is entrusted with the organizational and technical preparations for the upcoming elections, including the activities related to the coordination with the Central Electoral Commission; 
• Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova is to submit to the Cabinet a draft rate whereby parties, coalitions and nomination committees are to pay for campaign broadcasts on Bulgarian National Television and Bulgarian National Radio and their regional centres;
• Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov will organize the activities within the competence of his Ministry in connection with the preparation and implementation of the elections;
• Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov will be in charge of preparing and holding the elections abroad;
• The Minister for Regional Development and Public Works, Vladimir Malinov, will coordinate the preparation and publication of the electoral rolls;  
• Justice Minister Mariya Pavlova will be in charge of the preparation and conduct of elections in places of detention. The Minister is also entrusted with issuing the penal decrees under Article 496 of the Electoral Code;
• The Minister of Electronic Governance, Valentin Mundrov, will organize the video surveillance and video recording of the vote counting, including by concluding the necessary contracts;

The Cabinet’s decision also stipulates that all the ministers concerned should inform Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev about the progress of the election preparations until the announcement of the election results.
