1907: Liberator Czar Monument, commemorating Russian Emperor Alexander II and Bulgaria's liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878, is unveiled in Sofia.
1956: Diplomatic relations established with Tunisia at legation level. Upgraded to embassy level on August 9, 1962.
1958: Earthquake measuring 5.5 points on Richter Scale hits area of Cape Shabla (on Black Sea, Northeastern Bulgaria).
1984: At 5:29 p.m. local rime, ethnic Turks resenting their forced name change carry out bombing attack in waiting room of Plovdiv's Railway Station, killing one woman and injuring 42 persons. Another bomb explodes at 6:05 p.m. on same day in parking area in front of Varna Airport, injuring two women.
