Health Minister Galya Kondeva met with Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov in the seaside city on Friday to discuss ways to speed up the opening a new Regional Centre for Transfusion Hematology.
"By the end of August, nine employees, who are mainly from the administration, must be appointed so that they can carry out all the procedures related to the construction and repair activities, so we have to act according to the plan that has been adopted," Kondeva pointed out. "Funding is distributed for the construction and repair activities, as well as for the equipment", she noted, adding that her visit aims to clarify how her ministry can help the local municipality to finalize the first part of the agreement for the construction of the centre.
Kondeva and Nikolov also met with Dr Lyudmila Zhelyazkova, the newly elected director of the regional centre.
Asked to comment on information about whether the money in the National Health Fund has run out, Kondeva stated that she could not give a definitive answer because it is part of the institution's budget. "Two months ago, we had a detailed report on how the implementation is going. It is a question of distribution by the supervisor," she said and added that patients can rest easy.
