The Bessarabian Bulgarians' Smeshen Petak [Funny Friday] Theatre of Taraclia will perform a comedy play titled Charlie's Testament at the International Theatre Festival of Amateur Comedy Theatres, Pantomime and Satire which will be held in the southern town of Topolovgrad between September 23 and 29, Taraclia’s Theatre Director Sergey Paslar told BTA on Friday. The Taraclia Theatre will participate in the festival for the 12th time.

"The plot of the play is very topical today, that's why we decided to show it to the Bulgarian jury and audience," Paslar said.

The premiere of Charlie's Testament took place in Taraclia in March 2024 and was dedicated to the international professional holiday of all theatre artists. Vyacheslav Kiose is the play's director and scriptwriter.

"For us, it is an opportunity to show ourselves, see what our colleagues are doing, communicate with them, make new contacts and, of course, to finally win the main prize, Zlatnata Camila [the Golden Camel]," Kiose said.

A total of 17 plays will be performed at this year's, 27th edition, of the festival. Five theatre ensembles from Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine, Italy and Turkiye will participate in the event.
