site.btaTraining in Combating Disinformation, Fake News Launched at Taraclia's Vasil Levski Youth Centre

A three-day youth training course in combating disinformation and fake news has been launched at the Vasil Levski Youth Centre in Taraclia. The training is part of a project titled "Supporting the Youth of the Bulgarian Community in the Taraclia District in the Fight against Disinformation and Fake News". Approved under the 2024 Programme for Support of Expat Bulgarians' Communities, the project has been granted BGN 10,000.

By implementing the project, the Bulgarian community in Taraclia Region aims to foster critical thinking and fact-checking skills in young people and the Vasil Levski Youth Centre staff so they can effectively combat disinformation and fake news. The project is also aimed at raising the awareness of the Bulgarian youth of the Taraclia District about the prospects for Moldova’s European integration. It is envisaged that the Vasil Levski Youth Centre will receive equipment that will enable young people to make live broadcasts and podcasts related to disinformation.

The training is led by journalist and director of the Taraclia-based online platform tuk.md, Anghelina Gaidarji. She is training participants on how to analyze information, verify sources, and spot fake news and disinformation.
