site.btaLight 2.7-magnitude Earthquake Felt in Southern Sofia Tuesday Afternoon
A weak 2.7-magnitude earthquake was registered at 3:59 pm on Tuesday in southern Sofia, geophysicist Prof. Petya Trifonova from the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (NIGGG-BAS) told BTA.
She explained that the earthquake was felt in the residential districts of Druzhba, Mladost, Studentski Grad and Malinova Dolina.
According to the National Seismological Centre at NIGGG-BAS, the earthquake occurred at 3:59 pm local time and had a depth of 15 kilometres.
So far, there are indications that the earthquake was felt slightly in Sofia city area and in the surrounding areas, NIGGG-BAS seismologists said.
