There is heavy traffic at Bulgaria's borders with Romania, Greece, Serbia and Turkey, said the Border Police General Directorate on its website on Saturday.

At the border with Romania,there is heavy traffic at the Kardam, Durankulak and Oryahovo border checkpoints for trucks exiting Bulgaria.

At noon on Saturday, queues of cars and trucks formed in the area of ​​the Danube Bridge checkpoint near Ruse.

On July 10, renovations in the Bulgarian section of the 70-year-old facility began. For this reason, in the overpass part of the bridge, traffic is carried out in only one lane for about 200 metres. Border Police employees regulate the movement of vehicles in the area of ​​construction.

Border officials are urging drivers to respect the ban on entering the bridge facility and to follow instructions by traffic officials.

There is heavy traffic on the border with Greece at the Kulata border checkpoint and the Makaza checkpoint at the exit and entrance for cars, Border Police reported.
At the Kulata border checkpoint, the line of waiting cars was about 1.3 kilometers by 11 am. Both cars and trucks are waiting to pass. A line of waiting cars has also formed in the nearby village of Kulata, which also leads to the border checkpoint.

Greek television ERT reported that in July of this year 2.1 million people passed through the  Promachonas border checkpoint, of which 1.087 million entered Greece and 1.013 million left. In June, the traffic through the checkpoint was 1.15 million people, i.e. a total of 3.25 million people passed through there during the first two summer months of the year. The data for 2023 are similar, when 3.29 million people crossed during the same months.

Traffic is also heavy on the border with the Republic of Turkiye at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint and the Lesovo border checkpoint at the entrance for cars, shows Border Police data as of 1 pm on Saturday. 

On the border with the Republic of Serbia, there is heavy traffic at the Kalotina checkpoint for cars entering and exiting Bulgaria. Traffic is normal at all border checkpoints on the border with the Republic of North Macedonia.
