At a meeting on Wednesday, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) elected Boyan Magdalinchev as its representative with 15 votes in favour and one against.
Magdalinchev has served as an SJC member since October 2017. He also served as an SJC member between December 16, 1998 and December 16, 2003. He is a member of the Judges Chamber of the SJC.
Magdalinchev was the representative of the SJC before the amendments to the Constitution, which changed its structure, but after their annulment by the Constitutional Court, the SJC members again had to choose who would take the position.
On July 26, Magdalinchev told BTA that the current members of the SJC, even though their mandate has expired, can start a procedure for the election of a prosecutor general and head of the Supreme Administrative Court, whose mandate expires soon.
