site.btaBorder Traffic Update
Traffic at some of the border crossing checkpoints with Romania and Greece is intense on Wednesday morning, Border Police said on its website. Traffic is intense at the border crossing point Kardam at the exit for trucks at the border with Romania.
Due to major repairs on the Bulgarian section of the Danube Bridge at Ruse, traffic is temporarily reorganized in one lane. In addition to Ruse, drivers in the region can also head to the checkpoints Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kainardzha and Krushari.
Every Friday, from 4 pm to 8 pm, the Romanian authorities do not allow goods vehicles through Durankulak in either direction; on Saturdays, Sundays, pre-holiday and public holidays the restriction is from 6 am to 8 pm.
At the border with Greece, traffic is heavy at Kulata at the entrance for goods vehicles.
In view of the significantly increased crossings at Kulata and Makaza and the large number of Romanian tourists travelling to and from Greece, Border Police recommend the use of alternative checkpoints at the Bulgarian-Greek border, which are less congested and allow faster crossing.
Only cars and vans are allowed to pass through the border crossing points Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad.
At the borders with Serbia, North Macedonia and Turkiye, traffic is normal at all border crossing points.
