Retail turnovers in Bulgaria in June grew both month on month and year on year, according to figures provided by the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
In June 2024, the turnover in retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles at constant prices increased by 1.4% compared to May, according to preliminary and seasonally adjusted data released by the NSI on Tuesday.
The trade turnover increased by 4.3% compared to June 2023, according to the calendar-adjusted data.
The turnover of retail trade in June 2023 was unchanged from the previous month and grew by 2.4% from June 2022.
June 2024 saw a retail trade turnover increase in all major groups: retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) by 1.9%, retail sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores by 1.0%, and retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco by 0.9%.
In June 2023, the turnover of retail trade in automotive fuel in specialized stores was unchanged from May 2023, retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco grew by 0.8%, while retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) declined by 1.2%.
In June 2024, compared to June 2023, the turnover increased in retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco by 9.7% and in retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) by 5.7%, while retail sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores decreased by 11.1%.
In June 2023, compared to June 2022, the retail trade in automotive fuel in specialized stores grew by 9.7% and the retail trade food, beverages and tobacco increased by 4.2%, while the retail sales in non-food products (except fuel) decreased by 0.5%.
