An exhibition titled "Hungarikums – Unique from Hungary", which presents Hungarian spiritual, cultural and material goods, was put on display at Sofia Airport’s Terminal 2 on Tuesday. Jesus Caballero, CEO of Sofia Airport operator SOF Connect, and Hungary's Ambassador to Bulgaria Miklos Boros attended the opening ceremony of the event.
Hungarikum is a collective term indicating a value worthy of distinction and highlighting within a unified system of qualification, classification, and registry and which represents the high performance of Hungarian people thanks to its typically Hungarian attribute, uniqueness, specialty and quality.
The exhibition is part of the cultural calendar on the occasion of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and will be on display at Sofia Airport until end-August.
SOF Connect CEO Jesus Caballero said that the timing for the airport to host the exhibition is particularly appropriate as 2024 marks 20 years of Hungary's EU membership. Moreover, since the beginning of July, Hungary took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. "We have deep and long-lasting ties between Bulgaria and Hungary, and we have direct flights operating to the Hungarian capital," Caballero added.
The exhibition presents works of different topics, including gastronomy, cultural heritage, sports, environment, innovation, tourism, among others.
