In a comment on the Ukraine war, made to journalists in the United Kingdom on Thursday, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said: "It's about time it was brought to an end." Radev said: "It is not just about supplying weapons and ammunition. We should understand the nature of this war at last. The main instrument with which this war is being waged, the main factor, is the people. If we keep waging the same type of war, with the same intensity, we are approaching a point where Ukraine goes out of people on the battlefield. We will then face an incredibly tough political and moral dilemma."

The Bulgarian President arrived in the UK to represent Bulgaria at the 4th European Political Community Summit at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

He went on to tell the journalists: "If we stop supporting Ukraine, contrary to the position of the EU and NATO, it will mean that we are discrediting international law and accept the forcible capture of territories in the 21st century. But if we keep supporting Ukraine, how do we do it? Do we send people [to fight]? This is absurd."

The President urged: "The sooner the necessary decisions are made to begin using diplomacy as one of the most reliable instruments for resolving military conflicts, the better, and we will thus be able to keep this very tough political and moral dilemma at bay."
