site.btaRoad Infrastructure Agency: Construction of Hemus Motorway Lots 4, 5, and 6 to Begin by Year-End
At a hearing in Parliament on Thursday, Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) Management Board Chair Yordan Valchev spoke about the progress in the construction of Hemus Motorway and in the procedures for starting the construction of the Black Sea Motorway. He said that a building permit could be finalized within the next quarter and that the construction work on Hemus Motorway's lots 4, 5, and 6 can begin by the year's end.
In response to an inquiry from MP Yordan Terziyski of the Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria parliamentary group, Valchev clarified that RIA opted for a reduced gauge of 27 meters and a speed limit of 120 km/h. This decision was made to avoid delaying the start of construction and to ensure better integration with the previously completed lots 9 and 10.
Caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova also participated in the hearing.
