site.btaBulgaria's Burgas, Turkiye's Kirklareli to Promote Tourism through Common Platform

The Bulgarian city of Burgas and the Turkish city of Kirklareli will promote their tourism opportunities through a common electronic platform, said representatives of both cities at a meeting here on Wednesday. The two delegations also agreed on the development of common tourist products, which will aim to extend the tourist season.

The delegation from Kirklareli District was led by Tolga Orkun, Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye in Burgas, and included chief doctors of the hospitals in Kirklareli, Lüleburgaz and Pınarhisar. They were welcomed by Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, as well as directors and representatives of the Regional Directorate of Education and the Regional Directorate of Health Care in Burgas Municipality. The topics at the meeting included activities for closer cooperation in the fields of health care, education, culture, tourism and sports.

"I thank the Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye in Burgas for the help and assistance in making this meeting for bilateral cooperation happen. I want to specifically highlight joint activities in several directions that will be useful for both countries," said Nikolov. 

Bulgaria is the closest friend of the Republic of Turkiye, noted Orkun. "This applies not only to your country, but also to the Bulgarian people themselves, and we are ready for any kind of cooperation with you. Although my roots are from Dobrich and Silistra, I love Burgas so much that I consider myself a resident of Burgas," he said.

During the meeting it became clear that medical students from the district of Kirklareli will exchange experience and good practices with students from the Faculty of Medicine of Burgas State University. Bilateral courses for health workers and health care professionals in the fields of paediatrics, cardiology and emergency care are also envisaged, as well as joint trainings for first aid and rescue teams of the two cities.
