site.btaNearly 22 T of Counterfeit Washing Detergent Seized at Kapitan Andreevo

A total of 21,840 kg of counterfeit washing powder were seized by customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border during an inspection of a truck entering from Turkiye, the regional press centre of the Customs Agency in Svilengrad said. The fake detergent was found during a joint operation against contraband.

On June 29, a foreign-registered truck arrived at the border crossing on its way from Turkiye to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The driver, a Turkish citizen, presented documents that the truck transported detergents. During the inspection with 21, 840 kilograms of washing powder were found in the cargo hold. All the units had the logo of a well-known brand, with labels in Turkish.

In compliance with EU regulations about protection of rights over intellectual property the detergent was seized. The trademark owner confirmed that the detergent is counterfeit.

Since the beginning of the year at the border crossing with Turkiye 66 tonnes of washing detergent under global trademarks have been seized, said the Customs Agency. Some 51,336 units of shampoos have been seized.
