With 137 votes in favour, 8 against and 4 abstentions, the MPs added to Thursday's agenda of Parliament a draft decision on the establishment of an ad hoc committee to check all data for possible crimes related to the activity of Ivelin Mihaylov, founder and ideologist of the Velichie party, and the Historical Park tourist attraction in Northeastern Bulgaria. The debate on the draft decision was added to Parliament's agenda at the proposal of National Assembly Deputy Chair Rositsa Kirova.
The decision was drafted by independent MPs Darin Georgiev, Victoria Vassileva, and Georgi Kukov, who were part of the Velichie parliamentary group. The authors call for an investigation into Mihaylov and Historical Park over possible crimes related to money laundering and ties of representatives of local and central government with this complex and its construction.
The Velichie group ceased to exist after on July 5, six of its 13 members submitted applications to leave. According to the National Assembly Rules of Organization and Procedure, a minimum of ten MPs are required to form a parliamentary group.
