All necessary measures have been taken to prevent traffic congestions on Danube Bridge while it is being overhauled, Ruse Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov told BTA on Tuesday.

He explained that he, Regional Vice Governor Georgi Georgiev and representatives of all competent institutions had inspected the building of the ancillary infrastructure and the provisional routing in the area of the facility.

Ruse Regional Administration PR officer Georgi Georgiev told BTA that the launch of construction works at the Danube Bridge Border Checkpoint at 10 a.m. on Wednesday is expected to be attended by caretaker Regional Development and Public Works Minister Violeta Koritarova, Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Dimitar Nedyalkov, Road Infrastructure Agency Management Board Chair Yordan Valchev, Bulgaria's Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov, Ruse Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov, Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov, and a representative of the Romanian Embassy in Sofia.

"It is very important that drivers obey the traffic light signals and not attempt hazardous manoeuvres to avoid waiting for the red light to change," Draganov said.

Georgiev explained that the green and red will be on for about a minute in each traffic direction, and the devices may be operated manually if necessary.

Reinforced concrete fences will be placed shortly around the stretch that will be repaired at the initial stage.
