Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil Sunday celebrated a solemn divine service for the Second Sunday after Pentecost and for the day of the patron saint of the St Nedelya Cathedral in Sofia. Before that, a festive morning service was held at the cathedral.
The solemn liturgy was attended by Orthodox Christians, representatives of churches, and priests.
Patriarch Daniil sent up a prayer for health and prosperity of everyone present and the whole Bulgarian people.
Solemn services for the Second Sunday after Pentecost were also held in churches across Bulgaria.
On Saturday evening, Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil was officially welcomed by the clergy of Sofia and the Eparchy of Sofia. There was a Patriarchal vespers and artoklasia service and a festal cross procession, followed by a Trisagion for the blissfully departed Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Neophyte at his grave next to the St Nedelya Cathedral in central Sofia.
Metropolitan of Vidin Daniil was elected Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia on June 30.
