The third edition of the Sveti Vlas Film Fest opened on Thursday with Blaga's Lessons by director Stefan Komandarev at the Amphitheater Arena in Sveti Vlas.

The movie Blaga's Lessons won two Crystal Globe awards in Karlovy Vary, as well as a Golden Rose award and an award of the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers for Best Film and Best Actress in a Leading Role. Actress Eli Skorcheva, who celebrates her 70th anniversary in 2024, was a special guest at the festival in Sveti Vlas.

In 2024 the film festival viewers will see box-office Bulgarian films created in 2023. The competition programme will also include the films Dyada by director Yana Titova, German Lessons directed by Pavel Vesnakov, The Good Driver by Tonislav Rusev, Because I Love Bad Weather by Yana Lekarska, and Plague directed by Ivan Vladimirov, among others.

The jury is chaired by Deyan Statulov.

There will be special screenings (non-competitive) of the films Chalga by Marian Valev and The Pulse of the Dance by Georgi Kostov.

A competition for short films will be held for the first time.

BTA is the media partner of the film festival.
