The caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova-Kasabova, the Chair of the Road Infrastructure Agency Management Board Yordan Valchev and the caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov will speak before Parliament here on Friday, as requested by MPs from GERB-UDF, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and Vazrazhdane.
Koritarova-Kasabova and Valchev will report on the progress of the construction of the Vidin-Botevgrad expressway. The Minister will also brief Parliament on the progress with the Investment programme for municipal projects that is included in the 2024 State Budget Act.
Stoyanov will report on Bulgarian national Evelin "Brendo" Banev who is wanted under Interpol Red Notices for participating in an organized crime group for money laundering in Bulgaria and for setting up an organized criminal group and drug trafficking in Romania. Sofia City Court reported here on Tuesday that Banev asked the Bulgarian Court to let him serve in Bulgaria the sentences handed down against him in Italy and Romania.
Banev has been absconding from the Bulgarian authorities since his six-year sentence for money laundering was pronounced by Bulgaria’s Supreme Court of Cassation in 2018. He was not found on the territory of the country when the sentence was handed down and he was declared wanted. The Sofia City Prosecution Office subsequently issued a European Arrest Warrant for him.
