site.btaCC-DB to Move for Hearing of Interior Minister on Brendo Case

Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) will enter a motion for a hearing of caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov in connection with the appearance of Evelin "Brendo" Banev in front of Sofia Central Prison, Continue the Change co-leader Kiril Petkov told journalists here on Tuesday before a meeting of the CC-DB Parliamentary Group.

Petkov described as "absolutely outrageous" the fact that international criminals are entering and leaving Bulgaria without being detected either by the security services or the Interior Ministry. He recalled a similar case in 2023, when another high-profile wanted criminal, Angel Hristov, turned up dead in his home village of Ressilovo in Western Bulgaria after being on the wanted list for 11 years.

The MP that the Interior Minister will be summoned to Parliament before the end of this week to explain how an international criminal can surface in front of the gate of Sofia's prison without any of the services being aware of this.

"The reforms of the services on which we insisted all that time [while a CC-DB cabinet was in office], the reforms that were supposed to happen at the Interior Ministry are not happening, and these criminals are coming in and out whenever they wish," Petkov commented.
