Georgian screenwriter and director Nana Janelidze is coming to Bulgaria to present her latest film, Liza, Go On, a co-production with Bulgaria, the organizers said. On July 3, Janelidze will be at the IN THE PALACE festival in the western town of Pernik for the screening of the film about the Georgian-Abkhazian war of 1992-1993. There will be more screenings in Bulgaria from July 5.

Janelidze is one of the screenwriters, music writer and associate director of Repentance (1986), directed by Tengiz Abuladze, which premiered at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival. The film won the FIPRESCI Prize, the Grand Prize of the Jury, and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and was screened all over the world.

Janelidze was Director of the Georgian National Film Centre between 2013 and 2016.

IN THE PALACE, the International Short Film Festival, is the only festival in Bulgaria certified to nominate professional short films for consideration by the U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Academy Awards (©Oscar® Awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). These are the winners in the Best Feature and Best Animation categories of the international competition program, and the winner in the Best National Film category. The festival is also qualified to nominate student films for the Student Academy Awards® and for the Spanish Goya Awards.

This year's edition of IN THE PALACE will be held between June 29 and July 6.
