The Varna police broke up a marijuana growing facility as part of an operation to counter the production and distribution of narcotic substances, said the press centre of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry on Friday.
The resident of the property, a 45-year-old man from Varna with a criminal record, has been detained for a period of 24 hours.
In the house, forensic experts found three rooms adapted as greenhouses, equipped with a humidity and temperature control system, ventilation and over 1,200 plants at various stages of growth. The police also found another room where the cultivated hemp was being dried. Over 4 kilograms of a marijuana-like substance and a large electronic scale were also found and seized. According to the police, the total value of the confiscated equipment and the prepared marijuana is over BGN 150,000.
Since the beginning of the year, the Varna police have busted 17 marijuana growing facilities.
