Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Sofia municipal councillors of GERB-UDF Dimitar Vuchev and Proshko Proshkov called for the resignations of Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev and deputy mayor for transport Iliyan Pavlov over a traffic reorganization introduced in the centre of the capital in April.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Administrative Court ruled that the Sofia Municipality should suspend the new traffic organization on Sofia’s Vitosha Blvd, Patriarch Evtimiy Blvd, and Fridtjof Nansen St.

"The major question that has been asked over and over for a month and a half now is why the new organization was introduced in secret," Vuchev said.  "We didn't get an answer on how much it cost," the councillor added.

Vuchev described the actions of the Municipality as illegal and said that there is sufficient ground for them to be referred to the prosecution service.

Proshkov said that GERB had asked for a meeting with Terziev so he could hold his deputy in charge of transport accountable. "There has been no response, and that is why we want his resignation and that of his deputy because no action has been taken since they took office," Proshkov added.
