site.btaInflation Rises in EU and Bulgaria in May
Eurostat shared on its website on Tuesday that year-to-year inflation in Bulgaria, measured against the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), accelerated to 2.7% in May, while in April it was 2.5%. Annual inflation in Bulgaria was equal to or lower than the annual inflation in the EU back in August of 2021.
The same report highlights that EU’s consumer price index (CPI) rose slightly in May to 2.7% year-on-year, up from 2.6% in April. Annual inflation reached 2.6% in the eurozone in May compared with 2.4% in April.
Month-on-month consumer price figures in Bulgaria remained at the levels reported in April. Latvia (0%), Finland (0.4%) and Italy (0.8%) had the lowest, while Romania (5.8%), Belgium (4.9%) and Croatia (4.3%) had the highest inflation rate.
