Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev greeted the Muslim community in Bulgaria on the occasion of Eid al-Adha ("the Holiday of Sacrifice"). On Facebook, Terziev wished health and well-being. "May your homes be filled with warmth and joy," he added.

Terziev said that for Muslims, this day is a symbol of unity, sharing and forgiveness. The mayor voiced confidence that together Bulgarians can continue building a better society filled with respect, love, peace and understanding.

In 2024, the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha is celebrated between June 16 and 19. The Muslim calendar follows the lunar cycles and therefore the holiday has no fixed date. Each year it shifts forward 10 days from the previous year.
