Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev was on an official visit to Switzerland to attend the first Summit on Peace in Ukraine, which took place in the Buergenstock resort on June 15 and 16. World leaders discussed the creation of a clear framework for ending the war in Ukraine, providing security guarantees, setting conditions for a post-war settlement, and agreeing terms for financing Ukraine's reconstruction.

"I have arrived in the Swiss resort of Buergenstock, where I will participate in the first Summit on Peace in Ukraine. I was welcomed by the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy," Glavchev said in a publication on Facebook on Saturday.

The forum is focused on the Formula for Peace initiative, which was presented by Zelenskyy on November 15, 2022 during the G20 summit in Indonesia. It is a ten-point conceptual plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine and achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on preserving Ukraine's territorial integrity, Glavchev’s publication further reads.

"Bulgaria remains fully committed to the strong and united response of NATO, the EU and the international democratic community to Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Our country continues to support Ukraine in its just cause to defend its right to freedom and independence and to choose its own security guarantees. Bulgaria also supports Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic perspective. Clear evidence of this is the Declaration in support of Ukraine's membership to NATO, adopted by the National Assembly on July 6, 2023. Bulgaria welcomes the European Council's decision to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the Union and recognises the important progress this country has made," Glavchev’s statement further said.
