A total of 43 alerts were received in Sofia after the storm and strong winds Thursday night, 19 of which were responded to, said the head of the city's Emergency Aid and Prevention service, Krassimir Dimitrov. The Sofia Municipality also said that most of the damage reports were submitted from the Kremikovtzi district, the villages of Voinyagovtsi, Botunets, Chelopechene, the Poduyane district and the central part of the city. Thunderstorm and hail damage was also reported across the country on Thursday evening.
Eight teams of the directorate continue to remove broken branches and trees from the streets, said Dimitrov.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued code orange and code yellow alerts on Friday for heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail in eastern and central Bulgaria.
Precipitation will occur in many places and will be mostly short-lived but intense and accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds across the country will be from the northwest and moderate. Conditions for severe thunderstorms and hail will occur in the afternoon, mainly in the southeastern half of the country. The phenomena in western Bulgaria will abate in the evening, while in the east - the precipitation will stop during the night to Saturday.
