Caretaker Deputy Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva who met with Sverre Myrli, the Deputy Head of Norway's Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, spoke about the different types of tourism available in Bulgaria, such as cultural, wine, culinary and eco-tourism, the Ministry of Tourism reported on Thursday. The meeting agenda included having an active dialogue between Bulgaria and Norway.

Georgieva and Myrli noted that 2026 will mark 120 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between their countries.

Norway, along with Germany and Austria, is among the countries that can give high added value to Bulgarian tourism, especially in its spa and medical tourism segments. In 2023, Bulgaria was visited by close to 50,000 Norwegians, a 75% increase compared to 2022. This number is close the levels before the COVID-19 pandemic.
