The Foreign Affairs Ministries of Bulgaria and Finland held political consultations here on Tuesday at the level of Directors General for European Affairs, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release. The delegations were led by Yordan Parvanov on the Bulgarian side and Olli Kantanen on the Finnish side.
The sides discussed a wide range of matters on the bilateral and European agenda. Special attention was paid to the Western Balkans, the EU's future, and the work on the new strategic agenda, the EU enlargement policy, energy security, regional cooperation, and security in the regions of the Black and Baltic Seas.
The two delegations were unanimous in their assessment that Bulgaria and Finland have a broad field for deeper bilateral cooperation as well as within the EU and NATO. The Bulgarian side expressed gratitude for Finland's support for Bulgaria's efforts to join the OECD, the eurozone as well as Schengen by land.
The two sides expressed readiness to maintain regular dialogue in various bilateral and European formats, the press release reads.
