A group of German students, scientists and experts in the field of forestry visited the Plachkovtsi State Forestry Enterprise, said the North Central State Enterprise Gabrovo (NCSE) on Tuesday.

Among the group were representatives from the Faculty of Forestry of the Technical University of Munich, the National Seed Test Station in Teisendorf and the University of Forestry Engineering in Weinstein. The purpose of their visit was to see how climate changes affects the state of the beech and oak forests they visited, as well as to build contacts with their Bulgarian colleagues, with the aim to further scientific and academic exchange, added the NCSE Gabrovo.

The Bavarian scientists and experts said they were impressed by the beech forests they visited at the Plachkovtsi National Park and Balgarka National Park. At the end of their visit they thanked their Bulgarian colleagues for the responsiveness and the Plachkovtsi National Park director for the opportunity to visit a 150-year-old beech seed bank, which, in their words, has an impressive structure and vitality. "We hope for future cooperation and exchange of experience," the scientists said at the end of their visit.

The North Central State Enterprise manages the state forest territories in the regions of Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Silistra and Razgrad.
