The Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) reported on Friday that a massive explosion occurred at a commercial centre in Botoșani. The blast resulted in twelve injuries, with one person in critical condition. A Red Alert response plan was implemented.

With fire trucks and ambulances already on site, two emergency rescue service medical helicopters were dispatched from Iași and Galați, and a third helicopter, a Black Hawk, was dispatched from Bucharest.

Approximately 120 people were in the building at the time of the explosion. Emergency search and rescue units searched the site for individuals trapped under the debris.
