The Ministry of Agriculture and Food reported that forest areas nationwide have entered fire season. The Executive Forest Agency (EFA) has put into action necessary measures and procedures to prevent national forest fires. Tighter restrictions and surveillance are set on movement of vehicles, machinery, and individuals in forest regions. Specialized forest fire service personnel and vehicle units are on active alert to provide necessary support to Fire Safety and Protection of the Population officials.

EFA has reported 114 fires since the start of the year, affecting 1,090 ha and causing significant damage to 22.2 ha of woodland. The affected forest area more than doubles that of the previous year. The country's forest regions recorded 448 fires in 2023, affecting a total of 6,388 ha, with 689.6 ha impacted by crown fires.

EFA attributed 96% of woodland fires to negligence and reminded the public to follow fire safety measures due to the increased fire risk from rising temperatures and lack of precipitation.
