President Radev emphasized the importance of managing Earth's finite natural resources during World Environment Day at the University Botanical Garden in Balchik on Wednesday. The president highlighted the potential consequences of pollution, negligence, and disrupting nature’s balance. He noted that the exploitation of natural resources can have significant impacts.

He urged citizens to be mindful of preserving Bulgaria's natural beauty.

Radev also discussed the European Green Deal, highlighting its importance for climate neutrality but warned against pursuing it too quickly and at too high of a cost.

World Environment Day was celebrated at the University Botanical Garden in Balchik, in partnership with St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia and the Municipality of Balchik. Caretaker Environment Minister Petar Dimitrov, Education Minister Galin Tsokov, Sofia University Rector Georgi Valchev, and Balchik Mayor Nikolay Angelov were among other dignitaries in attendance. Executive branch figures, local government representatives and local students also took part. The Rector, the Mayor and the President planted white birch saplings.
