Former US Secretary of State and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will be among the keynote speakers on the first day of a conference on "Green Transition Forum 4.0: Redefining the CEE Region Global Perspective", which will be held from June 26 to 28 at the Sofia Event Centre. The event is organized by online news outlets Dir.bg and 3E-News.net.
Kerry will take part in a session on “Key Priorities for Climate Action”.
He is known for his commitment to solving global climate problems. As former US Secretary of State and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, Kerry played a key role in international efforts to address climate challenges, the organizers said. On behalf of the US, he signed the Paris Climate Accords in 2016, whose main aim is to keep the global average temperature rise to as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
Kerry also succeeded in uniting multiple nations around the idea of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating a global consensus on the need for action on climate change, the organizers added.
The "Green Transition Forum 4.0: Redefining the CEE Region Global Perspective" will feature representatives from more than 18 countries. Over 2,500 participants, including more than 750 top executives, will hold the key conversation for tomorrow's world.
