Three titles and a silver medal were won by the Bulgarian athletes at the Junior European Cup 2023 in Dor, Hungary.
In the all-Bulgarian final Mahmoud Jaafar (Respect Sofia) overcame Vladimir Todorov (CSKA) in the 55 kg category. For Jaafar it is the second title this season after the one in Sarajevo.
Sofia Mavrova (CSKA) also placed first after overcoming Czech Lyudmila Ortimanova in the 40 kg decisive bout. This is also the second gold for the athlete this season.
The champion of the tournament is also Dara Grueva (Champion, Sofia), who already at the start in the category up to 44 kg overcame Radost Petrushinova, who finished fourth.
Denis Medarov was seventh in the 60 kg category, as were Elena Mikhailova (48) and Kostadina Petrushinova (57).
The Bulgarian judokas came third in the team standings with three titles and a silver, taking part with a line-up of ten athletes.
The hosts placed first with 4 gold, 6 silver, and 15 bronze medals, followed by the Serbs with 3-1-6. Both teams participated with an impressive number of athletes - the Hungarians with 68 judokas and the Serbian team with 33.
