site.btaWeather Warnings Issued for 11 Regions in Bulgaria on Monday

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a yellow alert for rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms in seven regions in Bulgaria on Monday. The rainfall quantity is expected to reach 20 to 25 mm.

The alert applies to the regions of Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrobo, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Sofia Region, and Vidin.

An orange alert has been issued for four other regions: Lovech, Pleven, Vratsa, and Montana. Brief rainshowers with thunder and hail is expected in the afternoon and evening, with possible rainfall quantity ranging from 20 mm to 50 mm.

A lightning strike cut off the power supply to part of the Ruse trolleybus network during a thunderstorm on Saturday evening. The rainfall recorded was just 0.5 litres per square metre.
