Bulgarian Parliament Deputy Chair Rositsa Kirova called off an extraordinary sitting on Sunday after two failed attempts to gather a quorum. There were 69 MPs out of 240 in the plenary in the second attempt.
In the first attempt, 67 MPs registered: 56 from CC-DB, nine from There Is Such a People, one from GERB-UDF, and one independent MP.
The agenda of the sitting, called at the request of Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), included a hearing of caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev regarding a leaked cable sent to Bulgaria’s permanent representative in the UN, Lachezara Stoeva. The leaked documents showed that Stoeva defied last-minute instructions from Glavchev to abstain in a vote on a UN resolution designating July 11 as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.
The MPs were also supposed to discuss a draft decision on obliging the Health Minister to take action to conclude a Collective Labour Agreement in the health sector.
Glavchev was present in the plenary hall.
Both Vazrazhdane and BSP for Bulgaria said that they would not participate in the extraordinary sitting.
