site.btaCentral Bank Leaves Base Interest Rate to 3.78% as of June 1

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Friday announced that the base interest rate, or BIR (simple per annum interest), will remain 3.78% as of June 1, 2024.

The BIR has been kept the same since May 1, 2024. In April, the rate was 3.79%, in March it reached 3.80% - the highest level since the zero rates observed in the past few years. In February and January it was 3.79%.

From February 2016 until the end of September 2022 the BIR was 0.00%. As of October 1, 2022 it raised to 0.49%. A year ago, in June 2023, the BIR was 2.96%.
