site.btaRun2gether Gathers Record Number of Participants
A record number of participants will take part in the seventh edition of the run with a cause "Run2gether Bulgaria: Run to help", which will take place on June 1 at 10:30 around the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, announced the organizers of the Social Future Foundation. The initiative is part of Sofia's calendar as the current European Capital of Sport.
This year's event, part of the International Children's Day, aims to promote empathy and tolerance among youths. Run2gether gives visibility to the issues of people with disabilities and shows their capabilities and desire to be equal, included and empowered both socially and economically. Each of them, with the help of a supportive runner, will strive towards the finish line.
The cause is in support of the Jamba - Hub of Opportunities centre, where young people with disabilities are taught different skills and competences to be more competitive in the labour market. The centre was established using funds from the first runs and opened in October 2021. Since then, various trainings for people with disabilities have been held there, some of them in partnership with the Sofia Municipality.
The route is 5 kilometres long and for the third year the start is in front of the National Palace of Culture.
Prominent figures from the arts, sports, show business and media will also lend their support to the event.
The main partners of the run are the US Embassy in Bulgaria and the Sofia - European Capital of Sport Foundation.
The fastest participants will receive medals and at the end there will be a raffle with prizes from the event partners.
