A presentation of the next issue of LIK magazine took place at the BTA press club in Taraclia. The online event was attended by members of the Vassil Levski Youth Centre in Taraclia headed by its Director Elena Naseka.
The magazine's issue talks about the second voyage of the naval research ship Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) to Antarctica and back, focusing on the scientific projects that were part of the 32nd Bulgarian Antarctic expedition.
Speeches were delivered by the participants in the expedition to Antarctica, Hristo Doykov and the only captain from Burgas (on the Black Sea) after whom an island in Antarctica is named - Kosyo Kostov. The young people came to the conclusion that Antarctica remains one of the most mysterious continents, having a special status in international law.
Members of the Youth Centre visited the BTA Press Club for the first time and had the opportunity to join the scientific conference in Bulgaria.
"Experiences like this are very important for our children. Not only did they learn about the LIK magazine, the Bulgarian expedition and the Antarctic trail, but they also heard the formal Bulgarian language and saw how science, which for most people is boring and complicated, becomes a media topic and becomes more attractive and close. Now we, the Bessarabian Bulgarians, can also be proud of the Bulgarian Antarctic science projects," said Elena Naseka, Director of the Centre.
"The online launch of the special edition of LIK magazine "Bulgarian Science in Antarctica" took place in all 38 of BTA's press clubs, except the one on Livingston Island. The reason is that the winter is starting there, there are no Bulgarian scientists anymore and the BTA press club, which was opened in February, is not functioning at the moment," said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev.
He said that this year the agency has an idea to start broadcasting 365 days a year online what is happening at the Bulgarian base in Antarctica.
