Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, his Hungarian counterpart Tamás Sulyok opened the newly constructed building of the Bulgarian Cultural and Educational Centre in Budapest on Saturday. Radev is on a on a two-day official visit to Hungary at the invitation of Sulyok.

The new building will house the educational and cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations of the Bulgarian community in the country. The new building will house the educational and cultural institutions and NGOs of the Bulgarian community: the Bulgarian bilingual kindergarten, the Bulgarian mother tongue school, the Bulgarian Cultural, Documentation and Information Centre, the Bulgarian Research Institute, the Bulgarian Theatre (Malko Teatro), the Bulgarian Gallery, and the Administration of the Bulgarian Republican Self-Government. It is also situated next to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. Thus, a centuries-old goal of the Bulgarians in Hungary, to gather the pillars of the Bulgarian community in one place, is realized, said members of the community.

Radev thanked the Hungarian Government, the President, the Ministry of Culture for the construction of the centre and for the help they provide to the Bulgarian community.

Sulyok stressed that the Hungarian constitution asserts that the culture of the nationalities living in Hungary, including the Bulgarian community, is a value, a heritage that enriches the country's cultural life.
