site.btaSports Minister Glushkov Attends Opening of Gymnastics World Cup in Varna
Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports Georgi Glushkov attended the opening of the World Cup in Gymnastics at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna on Saturday, his ministry reported.
"I am extremely happy that our country is once again hosting a sporting event of this rank, which will be attended by athletes from a record number of countries - 37, who will compete in the different disciplines," Minister Glushkov said.
He congratulated the organizers for their long-standing efforts to develop and promote gymnastics in the country, and wished the competitors success.
The opening ceremony of the World Cup was also attended by President of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation Krasimir Dunev, Chairman of the Organizing Committee Yordan Yovchev, Mayor of Varna Blagomir Kotsev, and International Gymnastics Federation officials.
Bulgaria will have representatives at four World Cup finals in Varna - Valentina Georgieva, who won the Olympic quota for Paris 2024, will fight for the women's vault honours, Dimitar Dimitrov will compete in the men's floor final, and Dimitar Dimitrov and Yordan Alexandrov will take part in the vault and vault finals on Sunday.
