The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and Portugal’s LUSA News Agency signed a partnership agreement in Lisbon on Friday. The agreement was signed by the two news agencies' heads, BTA's Kiril Valchev and LUSA’s Joaquim Carreira following the spring conference of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA). The two-day conference focused on news agencies and artificial intelligence, as well as the role of news agencies in today's media landscape.
Under the agreement, the two agencies will provide free and full access to the other news agency's news wire, as well as rights to publish up to 10 news of the other agency on a daily basis. The agreement also provides for the two agencies to exchange one significant news item a day of the other agency’s English news service.
BTA now has a total of 21 partnership agreements with different European news agencies, all EANA members.
Following BTA's agreement with LUSA, Bulgarian media can now use free of charge news from 41 national agencies from 4 continents. BTA exchanges information freely with the news agencies of: Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Cyprus, Cote d'Ivoire, Kosovo, Ghana, Greece, Israel, India, Iran, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Liberia, Spain, Yemen, Vietnam, Moldova, Mongolia, Croatia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, Philippines, the Republic of North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates.
