On Thursday Bulgarian Foreign Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Svetlan Stoev met representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). On the agenda were the upcoming early elections for a national and European Parliament on June 9.

The meeting was held within an OSCE mission between May 22 and June 14 to monitor and assess the election process in Bulgaria.

Stoev briefed the OSCE delegates on the tasks of the Foreign Ministry in organizing the election process abroad. He highlighted the efforts to enable all Bulgarian citizens abroad to exercise their right to vote. He stressed the determination and availability of the necessary legal framework and expert resources for the conduct of free and fair elections. In this context, he noted the importance of international election observation and the commitment of Bulgaria to cooperation with OSCE. He outlined the readiness of the Foreign Ministry to provide the necessary assistance to international observers.
