Sofia Library's fund received 32 Japanese books on Thursday under the Read Japan Project. The books were donated by Japan Foundation.

During the ceremony presenting the donation, Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria Hisashi Michigami thanked Sofia Library for the interest in Read Japan Project and Japan Foundation for the donated books, which cover various topics, including history, art, and society. He expressed the hope that next time, they will be able to donate books for the children's fund of Sofia Library. The Ambassador conferred a donation certificate on Sofia Library Director Yulia Tsinzova.

In an address read during the event, Japan Foundation head Yohei Sasakawa said that around 90,000 books have been donated under Read Japan Project to cultural institutions in 140 countries around the globe. The foundation and the Japanese Embassy in Sofia have a long-standing tradition in donating books in Bulgaria.
