site.btaBulgarian Nino Simeonov Wins Snatch Gold at Youth World Weightlifting Championships

Bulgarian Nino Simeonov won the snatch lift gold medal in the men’s 55 kg category at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Lima, Peru.

In his best attempt, Simeonov snatched 101 kg and claimed the top spot in the event, but could not make a combined total result in the competition due to an injury before the clean and jerk event. Ramazan Yilmaz of Turkiye won the men’s 55 kg category with a total of 228 kg (a snatch lift of 99 kg and a clean and jerk lift of 129 kg).

On his debut appearance in the men’s 49 weight class, Bulgarian Rumen Ivanov finished seventh with a total of 171 kg.

Another Bulgarian, Boris Dimitrov (men’s 73 kg category) will compete in the tournament on May 24.
