The government approved Bulgaria's accession to the Joint Declaration of the Ministers of the Visegrad Group and of supporting member states in relation to the future of the Cohesion Policy for the next programming period after 2027 in the field of economic, social and territorial cohesion. The declaration was initiated by the Czech rotating presidency of the group. In addition to Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it is supported by Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
The countries express their readiness to cooperate jointly in the negotiations on the future legislative framework and the possibilities to coordinate national positions. The European Commission is expected to present the legislative package on cohesion policy next year.
The accession of Bulgaria to the Joint Declaration will contribute to the consolidation of its position and to a better protection of Bulgarian interests on the key aspects of the Cohesion Policy in the future negotiations on the EU Cohesion legal framework for the next programming period, once concrete legislative proposals are presented by the European Commission.
