The caretaker Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov said in an interview for bTV here on Sunday that there will be no significant increase in the price of electricity for households.

Malinov said that he met with the caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lyudmila Petkova regarding the provision of financial resources from the state budget to cover the accumulated deficit in the Electricity System Security Fund. He was assured that the deficit will be covered on the basis of a report he will submit to the Cabinet.

The Minister noted that setting the price of electricity in the regulated market for households is the sole function of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).

He reported that he had a meeting with the managements of the Bulgarian Energy Holding and Kozloduy NPP. He added: "I was assured that, based on additional analysis that they will conduct, on Monday they will submit a new application with a significantly lower price increase that will be requested by Kozloduy NPP in the mix of the regulated market."

Malinov commented on the price of energy produced by renewable energy sources, saying that it is sufficiently competitive. He said that a minimal price increase can be introduced, within the inflationary processes.
