The captain of the Comoros-flagged ship Michael has confirmed that the vessel was involved in an accident at sea, Maritime Administration - Varna Director Captain Valentin Enchev said on Sunday. The vessel is suspected to have been involved in an accident that sank the Mohammed Z vessel in Romanian waters. Eight crew members were rescued after the sinking of the ship, but three others are still missing.

Michael arrived in Varna on Sunday morning and was checked, Enchev explained. He noted that structural violations on its bow were found during the check.

Enchev explained that the vessel was on its way to Varna and its cargo was metal pipes. "An investigation is now underway, an assessment of the technical condition of the vessel will be made, and then it will be decided where the repairs will be carried out," he added.
